New Careers
Changing careers is a big event in a person’s life. Once you make the decision to switch jobs it’s important to plan and prepare while you’re still working to make the transition to your new career as painless as possible.
Try some volunteer work in something that you’re interested in. Volunteering will help you learn more about what the new work will actually be like, or talk to someone who is already doing what you want to do – you’d be surprised at how much people want to help. Make sure to have a business card with you for any new meeting or assignment!
Don’t forget to look at your budget. Often a change in careers means a reduced or no income for a period of time. Married with kids? Don’t forget to include them in the adventure as well.
